2005 Pennsylvania Political Leaders Fellowship

The application deadline for the 2005 Pennsylvania Political Leaders Fellowship was August 12. If you are interested in receiving information about future programs for the Center for Progressive Leadership please sign up for email updates.

The Pennsylvania Political Leaders Fellowship is a part-time, 9-month leadership development program for both promising future candidates and non-candidate political leaders. During the program, each Fellow attends a series of trainings focused on providing them with the tools, resources, and knowledge to become an effective leader, organizer, or candidate in their community. As CPL Fellows, these leaders receive ongoing support and mentorship to support their launch into local or state-wide political prominence.

Apply for the Political Leaders Fellowship:

The Fellowship application is a 3-part process:

  1. Submit your contact information to begin the application process (Online. Deadline: August 12)

  2. Answer a series of 5 short essays to illustrate your leadership track record and future goals, and submit an updated resume that should include your education, work, volunteer and organizing experience, as well as any political leadership positions you have held. (Online. Deadline: August 12)

  3. Mail 3 letters of recommendation from people who are familiar with your experience in political organizing and/or your future political leadership goals. Letters of recommendation should be mailed together in a group from the applicant. There is a 10-day grace period following the online application deadline for CPL to receive your letters of recommendation (Via mail. Deadline: August 22)

Beginning in late August, we will contact qualified applicants to accept them into the program. We may also set up a brief interview by phone or in person with some applicants to discuss their goals for the program if there are still questions on either side. Interviews and all application decisions will be completed by late September.

Once we accept you we will provide you with a link to pay the $750 training fee online or by check. Full payment or a deposit must be received within 10 days of acceptance. Please note that the Center for Progressive Leadership is dedicated to ensuring that economic considerations are not a barrier for highly qualified and committed emerging progressive leaders to participate in the Fellowship. Installment plans are available, and we will have a small number of scholarships available to defray a significant portion of the $750 program fee.
